presence,
Profile: A lifelong
citizen of El Paso, Chuy was a political
activist and community watchdog. Chuy was always looking out for the
interests of El Paso and his people. Chuy was active in politics fighting
corruption and never backing down. Chuy loved El Paso and would
never hesitate to acknowledge this love to anyone he met. His
accomplishments are made even greater by the fact that he was blind since
infancy only regaining partial eyesight in one eye later in life. Chuy also dabbled in acting, appearing in the Chuck Norris film “Lone Wolf McQuade”. Sadly, Chuy passed away in April of 2002. But his
legend and legacy will always live on. For his perseverance, humor, and
life long commitment to El Paso del Norte we name Chuy de la O as the
